“Everything I really want to know is unknowable.” said one of my candidates. How true is that? When you’re exploring a franchise or even when you own a franchise, you have to get comfortable in the unknown. We can use averages and the experiences of others to get ball park figures and a general understanding of how things may go, but until you get in there and start your own location, you simply can’t know everything you want to know. The beauty of franchising is that you’re not in the unknown alone, however. You have the support of a corporate office as well as all the other franchisees who have gone before you. But even with all that, if you want to live your dream of business ownership, you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
