Dream Stealers are everywhere! Any advisor (financial, legal, family, friends) brought into your franchise investigation process at the end is going to clip your sails. These people mean well, but if they have not been through the process that you’ve been through, they don’t know what you know. Think back to your assumptions and feelings about the opportunity, competition, longevity, etc. when I first presented the concept to you. Did you immediately want to say YES! to the business? Um? Probably not! In fact, the business you’re now in love with was the probably the one I challenged you to look at despite your initial reaction, and the reason you saw the opportunity was because you went in open minded and gave the franchisor the opportunity to show you who they are, what makes them unique, how they compete, etc. So, you can’t expect someone who is being thrown the opportunity last minute to jump on board excited for you. If you want others to help you make the decision, bring them along from the beginning.
