Financial freedom – ahhhh isn’t this what we all want, to be free from financial constraints and worries and to wake up and live on our own terms, YES!
In the alternative investing community, the technical definition of financial freedom is to have passive income that exceeds your living expenses such that without working, you can afford the
life you want. Again, I believe this is what we all want!!
If this is what we all want, why don’t we have it? As far as I can tell, there are two primary reasons why most people are not financially free. First, most people work for someone else;
therefore, they trade their time for money, and that is not the way to freedom. Second, most people save money in 401ks, pension plans and the like, so they have future spending power,
but most are cash poor today.
If becoming financially free is the goal, how do you begin? First by setting the goal to become financially free by a certain time. The universe operates through order and action. So having the
goal creates order, but a goal is not good enough. You need a specific goal. How much cash flow do you need to cover and exceed your living expenses? That’s step one.
Step two is to create a plan. The fastest way to increase cash flow, build equity and gain time freedom is to own a business. Franchisepreneurship allows you to mitigate the risks of starting a
business, buy down the learning curve and potentially speed up the path to profitability because from day one you are working efficiently and effectively from a plan. The average person without
an MBA or prior business ownership experience has the same likelihood of being successful as anyone with an MBA or prior experience. On my podcast “Create Wealth through Franchising,” I
have interviewed hundreds of franchisees who share their stories of breaking free from corporate America and building their own futures through franchising.
Once you build and scale a franchise, and you have stability in your team such that you can take a step back and gain time freedom, you are now on your way to your ultimate goal of
financial freedom, but the journey doesn’t stop there.
The next step is to scale your franchise such that you have excess cash that you can deploy into passive investments: real estate syndication, oil and gas investments, car wash syndication,
cryptocurrency, etc. On my podcast, I have interviewed many passive investing experts, most of whom I am invested with. In this way, you have active and passive cash flow, and this creates a
diversified portfolio where you receive monthly cash flow not just quarterly statements.
In 2018, I met a man worth more than $50 million dollars, and I asked him to mentor me so I could become financially free. He taught me about “velocity of money” and how the wealthy
build wealth. I immediately stopped saving money for my future and withdrew money from stocks and put it into motion. Within 4 years, I had attracted people and opportunities to me, and
I had become financially free. I went from saving for my future and always feeling like I had to hustle and grind in my businesses to putting my money to work for me today and building cash
flow in excess of my living expenses. Because I love my businesses and am not ready to be “retired”, the money I earn through my passive investments goes back to invest in more passive
investments so I can continue to grow my portfolio and monthly cash flow that I do not have to wake up and earn. I enjoy the tax savings of the rich, and I have peace of mind knowing that I
am 100% in control of my time and financial future. I am mentally and financially free. Have I taken some losses along the way, you might ask? You better believe it. Passive investing, like
active investing, is not a guarantee, but there are no guarantees in life. Just like I learned how to become a successful business owner by owning businesses and failing forward, I have
learned and am still learning how to be a successful passive investor by failing forward. But the #1 reason I am successful and financially free is because I am in the game. I know what I want,
so there is order in my mind, and I have taken action.
